    20 Sep - Mon - Faculty Recital

    Join us for the kick off of the 2010-2011 Faculty Recital Series. The opening concert is a tribute to the 200th birthday year of Frederic Chopin. Piano faculty member John Kramer will perform a delightful all Chopin concert. The concert series is generously sponsored by the Winchester Rotary Club.

    12 Sep - Sun - MusicFest

    Winchester Community Music School’s celebration of musical fun! MusicFest features performances, an instrument petting zoo, toddler & kid’s music class demos, musical scavenger hunt, group keyboard class demos, music therapy consultations, and tours of the music school. Information about private lessons and classes for kids, teens, and adults will be available at the event. Free and fun for all ages.     12 Sep - Sun - WCMS ChamberMusic, Rock Band, and Jazz Ensemble Audition Day

    WCMS offers instrumental ensembles and bands for kids, teens and adults in classical music, jazz, and rock/modern music. Ensemble groups—coached by a member of our talented WCMS faculty--meet weekly. You do not need to be a WCMS student to join an ensemble. Everyone is welcome to participate. Auditions are held for most groups on Sunday, Sept 12. However, some ensembles may audition by appt. with the coach Please be sure to contact WCMS or visit the School's website for specific information.

    11 Sep - Sat - Broadway/Pops Ensemble Vocal Auditions

    Broadway/Pop Ensemble is a new WCMS ensemble offered to girls in grades 9 through 12. Class material will include Musical Theater solos, scenes, and ensembles and there will be instruction in theater arts and history, acting, and stagecraft. Additionally, Pop repertoire performed.     08 Sep - Wed - Voice Works Auditions

    Voice Works is a vocal ensemble for girls in grades 4-6. This program is a wonderful girls-only experience that helps build self-esteem and teamwork in a supportive environment. Voice Works I, for fourth and fifth graders, develops proper vocal technique and builds musicianship skills. Voice Works II, for sixth graders, builds upon the techniques in Voice Works but includes solo singing as well as ensemble singing. The program is wonderful preparation to future private vocal instruction. Voice Works III is new for fall 2010. Voice Works III is a musical theater based vocal and dramatic program that continues to develop middle school aged singers who are interested pursuing voice lessons as well as continuing with a group program. Students will sing solo and ensemble repertoire, perform monologues and scenes and work on musicianship skills.

    Voice Works meets on Wednesday afternoons, under the direction of voice instructor, Norina Rowen. Please check the WCMS for specific times and audition information.

    looking for a guitar teacher Hi Suzi and others interested in guitar! If you are a beginner, our Intro to Guitar class might be an excellent way to start. The tuition is only $120 for six one-hour classes, AND the guitar is provided! Classes meet on Mondays from 5:15 to 6:15pm. There are two sessions of Intro to Guitar offered in the spring semester. The first session began today, Feb 1 and runs through March 15. There are still spaces open if you would like to join the class. The second session runs from March 29 to May 10. Call the school if you are interested, so we can hold a place for you (781-721-2950). If you are a more experienced player or feel you would benefit from private lessons, WCMS has an incredibly talented group of guitar teachers. Whether it's basic classical guitar, bass guitar, rock, blues, jazz, country, pop, -- you name it, we have faculty members who can help you learn. The spring semester is just beginning, so it's a great time to enroll for private lessons. Call our registrar at 781-721-2950, x 244 to arrange placement. For those interested in playing with others in a group, we have ensembles of all kinds: classical, rock and blues, motown, Beatles, American Roots, and more. Open Mic nights are held the first Thursday of every month. Fat Tuesday Blues Jams are held the second Tuesday of every month. The Underground at WCMS offers all kinds of modern music opportunities.
