Farmers Market Open Tomorrow!
Opening day is finally here! The market opens this Saturday (6/12) on the town common at 9:30 am. Come join us for a day of great entertainment, information, and fresh local food.
To celebrate the opening day of the market, E. L. Silvia Farm has generously donated over a hundred tomato plants to give away free to farmers market customers. They are available at the market manager's tent, but only until they run out, so get there early!"Nature in Winchester" Photo Contest. Get out there, and capture Spring in our town on camera There are actually lots of coyotes in Winchester. I see them in my yard every month or two, sometimes even in broad daylight. And at night I can sometimes hear packs of them howling. It's an eerie sound! There are often wild turkeys in Winchester, too. I once had 13 turkeys in my yard at the same time. They decided to fly over the fence into the park next door, and several of them stopped and sat down on top of the fence (a 5-foot-tall stockade fence)--it looked so funny, they were actually stopping traffic. I've had them sitting in trees next to my bird feeders, too.
Flooding in Winchester I have used Pro-Care in Woburn before, and they were really good. Their schedule seems to be quite full this time around. I was able to get a appointment scheduled much sooner with ServiceMaster (they are sending out teams from all of their New England offices), the company recommended by my insurance company.
Flooding in Winchester We have had a supposed "flood of the century" four times since I bought my house in Winchester in 1998. All four times, my basement has flooded with sewage, in spite of the expensive back flow valve I had installed to ensure that the same thing would not happen again. I wish that Winchester's flood mitigation plan had been more of a priority sooner. We do have a sump pump going and managed to save most of the small things that could be carried upstairs, so I don't need any help, just wanted to commiserate with others who might be experiencing something similar.
