Q: What is WinCentral?
A: WinCentral is a Winchester-based non-profit organization that helps our community better share and benefit from information about the incredible resources we have available in our great town. How often have you only heard about an event after it happened, or you simply forgot to attend? Have you ever wished you could exchange questions and thoughts better with your Winchester neighbors and friends, have a platform where you can find what’s going on in town? We want to help you find out more about our town – because you may end up spending more time here, and that benefits everyone.

Q: Who is involved in it?
A: Our organization depends on the hard work of volunteers, of our advisory board, and our board of directors. We were founded in early 2009 by a group of local residents who felt that Winchester deserves a more efficient and more effective way to communicate. Meanwhile, we have found the support and endorsement of many Winchester individuals, non-profits and businesses, such as Winchester Farmers Market Committee, Sustainable Winchester, Winchester Chamber of Commerce, Jenks Senior Center, Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence, Winchester Multicultural Network, Council on Aging, Winchester Neighbors Club, Roger Berman, Rep. Jason Lewis, and Family Action Network.

On our advisory board sit Rosemary Sullivan (President Jenks Center), Catherine Valega (Greenbridge Wealth Management), Fred Yen (Farmers Market), Helen Babcock (Chairperson Council on Aging), Susan Youmans (Field Manager, Wright-Locke Farm), and Judy Manzo (Book Ends).

Jeff Cabral (Sustainable Winchester), Lily Yamamoto (LMY Design) and Alex Lorenz (Chamber of Commerce, Farmers Market Committee and Sustainable Winchester) make up the board of directors.

We need local volunteers to help with many different aspects of our work. Email us today at info (at) wincentral to find out more.

Q: How does WinCentral support local organizations and businesses?
A: We are creating a self-perpetuating, self-reinforcing system that supports our local economy without lecturing and without making consumers feel guity about making pragmatic choices. We want to encourage local residents to spend more of their time and money in Winchester, by better sharing the information about the incredible resources we already have. Excess funds will be disbursed back to the community though grants for other local economy projects. Local non-profits can download a grant application here.
