Any last minutes dessert suggestions?

11/25/09 by Fransisca P

The in-laws are coming tonight and I still have to come up with a dessert for tomorrow. HELP. Do you have any last minute dessert suggestions? Something that can be put together quickly but that still impresses?

Hello, your dessert suggestions were life savers! Thank you so much. I did end up sampling both recipes and they turned out great. Except for two apples that we stuffed with cheese based on a recipe that I found online. That looked good but tasted funny. Maybe better with a different type of cheese. Thank you again! and Happy Holidays!

Baked apples are quick, easy, can be presented elegantly, and are
appropriate for Thanksgiving and for the time of year in general. Stuffed
with figs, nuts, cheese, raisins, or cranberries; sweetened with maple
syrup, brown sugar or honey, seasoned with cinnamon, cloves, ginger or
vanilla and dressed with a melting scoop of ice cream, a swirl of caramel, a
slice of cheddar - they're pretty flexible and versatile in terms of
ingredients so you can get creative and with what you have on hand.
Numerous recipes are available online for specifics and ideas, but generally
you just core the apples, stuff them with your favorite fixings and bake
them until tender. Pretty simple. Happy Thanksgiving!

Buy a chocolate angel food cake from Whole Foods along with some
organic strawberries and blueberries. Whip some heavy cream until it
has the consistency of whipped cream (not too much or it'll turn to
butter, not too little or it'll be thin and soupy). Sprinkle the
berries generously over the cake and inside of it. Top it with your
homemade whipped cream. The whole thing takes about five minutes to
put together once you have the ingredients. It looks great and it's
    extremely delicious.
